Established in (2012) ,the Center for Sustainability (CFS) is a body for environmental extension, research and community outreach unit attached to the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science (DFES), University of Sri Jayewardenepura. CFS is a faculty-directed organization that supports the broader efforts of the DFES to ensure environmental protection and sustainable development across the country through; productive University-Industry linkages and partnerships, valuable and insightful research, and biodiversity conservation projects.
Being the first one of its kind at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, the CFS is committed to producing a new breed of responsible stewards of the environment through promoting the concept of sustainability among the corporate sector, general public, university academia and students, primarily through professional support, education and awareness.
Backed by a renowned panel of environmental experts with proven track records at the DFES, the CFS provides a wide array of environmental solutions for multi-sector sustainability demands.
Since opening, the CFS has been responsible for a vast array of successful projects involving government stakeholders and partners, including the Forest Department on several ongoing reforestation and biodiversity enhancement projects. In addition the CFS has conducted pioneering research and conservation work with the Indian Pangolin Manis crassicaudata at the university research center in Yagirala.
Under the expert leadership of Professor Priyan Perera, we at the CFS are proud of the work we have done but as a team continue to work hard to expand and promote sustainability initiatives nationwide to ensure a brighter future for generations to come.
